Terms of Use

🐾 The short version. Dog Translator needs no account and is free to start: your first 5 listens and 5 chat phrases are free, and every result is saved to the diary automatically; the diary is free. A monthly subscription, Dog Translator Pro, removes these limits and opens the health radar. There is no free trial and there are no ads. The optional Dress up feature uses AI to put your dog in a costume and runs on photo credits, which come with the subscription or as a one-time pack that never expires. Dog Translator reads your dog’s sounds for fun and for gentle observation — it is not a veterinary tool and it does not diagnose anything.

1. Agreement

By installing or using Dog Translator ("the app") you agree to these terms. The app is provided by Hüseyin İris, an independent developer publishing as heyisoft. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Dog Translator is for users aged 18 and older. By using it you confirm that you are 18 or older.

2. What the app is

Dog Translator records a dog vocalisation, measures its acoustic properties on your device, and shows which context that sound most resembles, together with a confidence figure. It also lets you keep a diary and play real recorded dog calls back to your dog. With the optional Dress up feature you can send a photo of your dog to be redrawn in a costume by an AI image model (Google Gemini).

3. What the app is not

Not a translator in the literal sense. No one can turn a bark into a sentence. The app maps acoustics onto contexts observed in research, and it tells you when it is unsure instead of guessing.
Not a veterinary or medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or rule out any condition. The "health radar" only flags shifts from your dog’s own usual pattern.
Not a substitute for a vet. If your dog seems unwell, contact a veterinarian. Never delay veterinary care because of something this app showed you.

4. Your responsibilities

Use the app on your own dog, considerately. Stop playing sounds if your dog seems stressed or agitated.
Do not use the app to record people without their knowledge.
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app or its bundled sound library, or to use the Dress up server other than through the app.

5. Free limits and subscription

Without a subscription, Dog Translator has these free limits:

Listening: your first 5 listens (recording and analysis) are free. Trying the bundled sample bark does not count.
Chat phrases: your first 5 chat phrases are free.
Diary: every listening result is saved to the diary automatically, and the diary is free for everyone.
Health radar: the health radar (voice changes and the weekly summary) is part of the subscription. It is available after your first recording; without the subscription, section titles and explanations stay readable, but the values, charts, weekly verdict and findings are blurred, and tapping them opens the subscription screen. The summary for your vet is part of the subscription. Your data is kept either way and the radar opens as soon as you subscribe.

Dog Translator Pro removes all of these limits: unlimited listening, every chat phrase and the health radar, for as long as the subscription is active. There is no free trial. It costs US$4.99 per month; the price in your own currency is shown in the app before you confirm. It also includes Dress up photo credits (section 6).

The subscription renews automatically every month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your store account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of that. The first payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. You manage or cancel it in your own store account — App Store → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android — not through us, and deleting the app does not cancel it. Payment is taken and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. If a price changes you will be asked to agree before it applies to you.

If you reinstall or change phone, use Restore purchases on the unlock screen or in Settings to bring an active subscription back.

Dog Translator shows no ads of any kind. What the app does handle is set out in the Privacy Policy.

6. Photo credits

Each costume picture created with Dress up uses one photo credit. A credit is used only when a picture is actually delivered: if the photo is refused (for example, no dog is found, a person is visible or a safety filter blocks it) or something goes wrong, no credit is used. There are two kinds of credit:

Subscription credits. An active Dog Translator Pro subscription includes 20 credits per monthly billing period. Subscription credits are refilled at each renewal; credits left unused at the end of a period do not carry over, and they stop when the subscription ends.
Bought credits. A one-time pack of 20 photo credits costs US$6.99 (the price in your own currency is shown in the app before you confirm). Anyone can buy it, with or without a subscription. Bought credits never expire. If you also have subscription credits, those are used first.

Credits can only be used for Dress up in Dog Translator; they have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; credits from a refunded purchase are removed from your balance. Because Dog Translator has no accounts, bought credits are linked to your store purchase and to the anonymous identifier of your install. If you reinstall or change phone, use Restore purchases; if your bought credits do not come back, write to heyisoft@gmail.com with the store order number and we will restore them.

7. Dress up: your photos and AI pictures

Who can use it. Like the rest of the app, Dress up is for users aged 18 and older (section 1). The AI provider's terms also do not allow it to be used by people under 18.
What you may send. Only photos you have the right to use, of your own dog or a dog whose owner agrees. Do not send photos showing people — never photos of children — or photos meant to create offensive, misleading or unlawful pictures. Photos in which a person is visible are refused automatically. You must also follow Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.
How your photo is handled. Your photo is sent to our server and to the Google Gemini API to create the picture, and is not stored by us. The details are in the Privacy Policy, section 6.
The pictures. Pictures are created automatically by AI. They may not look exactly like your dog, may contain mistakes, and can occasionally be unexpected. They are made for personal, non-commercial fun. As between you and us, you may keep, save and share the pictures you create, subject to the rights of others. They carry Google's invisible SynthID watermark identifying them as AI-generated; do not present them as real photographs in a way that misleads people.
Reporting. If a picture is offensive or inappropriate, use Report on that picture in the app or write to heyisoft@gmail.com. We review reports promptly and use them to improve our filters.
Our safeguards. Automated filters may refuse a photo or a result. We may block access to Dress up for anyone who misuses it; credits that remain unused in that case will be refunded where the law requires it.

8. Content and licences

The dog sounds bundled with the app come from openly licensed Freesound recordings (CC0 and CC BY 3.0/4.0) and are credited clip by clip inside the app, under Settings → Sound sources, and in our Privacy Policy. The app itself, its design, text and model remain the property of heyisoft.

9. Availability

We aim to keep the app working but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and operating-system updates may temporarily break things. Dress up needs an internet connection and depends on our server and on Google's service. We may change or discontinue features, including the available costumes; if we discontinue Dress up, bought credits that remain unused will be refunded where the law requires it.

10. Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, heyisoft is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any decision you make about your dog’s health. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.

12. Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
